Create clips with a nest cam (battery).

Hello everyone,

Happy to join the community.

Is it possibile to save video clips with nest cam (Battery) like I was doing with my Nest Cam outdoor IQ? Is there a browser version of the Home app?

I need to learn everything from scratch and use two different apps to manage my two cameras. I bought a Nest product because I was expecting  compatibility with the old nest camera.  I am getting a bit frustrated...

Hi MikeMikeMike89.

You can save clips using the Home app but it is no where near as refined as the NEST app.  You can only save clips if they exists as a recorded clip.  And you can not trim up the begging and ending.  You can NOT save a clip from just anything that was recorded unless it is lists as an existing clip.  AND to make matter worse you can only save the clip to your phone's photo album.  I REALLY miss the feature that NEST has where you can send someone a link to view the clip.   The way you do it is go to a camera and select HISTORY.  Then view the clip you want to save. Next hit the 3-dots in the upper right corner and an option will appear to save the clip to device.

There is NO WAY to view any of the new generation cams on your computer.  They say that feature is coming sometime in 2022.  Which pretty much mean it probably won't be anytime soon.

This is a very sad state of affairs for Nest cams.

Thanks for your answer. Ok it's clear. Disappointing, but very clear.

It would be nice to have some kind of roadmap for all of the feature that are still missing. So that I can easy understand if my expectations will ever be satisfied.

Thanks for following up - I just figured it out and it has more to do with competing and conflicting information for the product, courtesy of none other than Google itself.  What I have discovered is that there is no longer an option in the Home App in the ellipse in the upper right hand corner to save the clip to the device.  It has been replaced with a download icon that is accessed via "Event details" on the clip you are viewing.   That article can be found here --> https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9207572?hl=en#zippy=%2Cdownload-a-video-clip

Hey Folks.

At this time, I'll go ahead and lock this thread. If you're still experiencing problems, feel free to start a new thread and we'll be happy to help.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Thank you for the advice, but it seems that the option to save a video clip has been removed, and I can't seem to find out where the clips are stored in local storage.   Between this and the fact the cameras do not seem to be very sensitive to movement or environmental changes to activate recording, I get the feeling these things were not really ready to be released as a finished product.
