Delayed notification someone at the front door.

SDM013
Community Member

I am finding this happening more and more.

Doorbell button pushed.

Get notifications on Google Nest Hub's and Speaker's within a couple of seconds.

But notifications that someone is at the front door via 2 phones can be delayed 10-15 minutes.

Phones are at home on same Wi-Fi network. Both phones get delayed notification at the same time.

Any fix for this or is this a Google server issue?

Same here even with Google wifi. It is concerning as with the delay the cameras seen not to be doing what they must do in the first place which is protect you.

We're having the same issue, nest doorbell delayed 5-10 minutes on multiple phones while we are home on Google Nest WiFi

We just keep posting, Google doesn't seem to care. I don't see any proactive responses from them.

I've been having super long delays like this for over a year. It is on all my devices not just mobile. A factory reset does not work either

Same thing is happening to me... Not great on Halloween! I missed answering the door for a trick or treater because my phone didn't tell me until 10 minutes later!

Just another post about the same problem noted above. 10-15 min delay in getting the “Your camera spotted someone” notification on multiple devices.

Stable home internet with Google Wifi mesh network. All other devices work fine.

Just chiming back in with more accurate data, in case that can help. The delay is currently 17 minutes.

Could Google’s Nest servers be experiencing delays due to increased ding-dongs on Halloween?

My nest is set to my phone. It used to take at the least 30 seconds to notify me someone is at my door. It now takes 15 min. Time to switch to Ring or what? It's useless now.

Hi, have the same issue here.

Notifications are on time on nest hub and all other Google assistant devices but delayed on phones. Android and iPhone have the same issue.

It's getting annoying that the doorbell is not reliable.

We are having the same issue, except our delays are 20-40 minutes late.  We are sitting inside, with our phones, connected to our Starlink internet (which has next to no delay), and our front door camera (ring)  is still super delayed.  I have yet to see any response on here that is relevant or works, so it would be nice if Nest would respond with a solution.

Notifications are consistently 15 minutes late to two phones connected to wifi.

Zero problems with any other service, including Smartthings, my GE Washer & Dryer's notification cloud, my security cameras, or any of my other cloud services that push notifications to devices.

100% a google nest thing right now.

Google - you absolutely blew it.  On the one night a year where you have historical evidence that doorbell rings will be through the roof, you dropped the ball.

Rishi, you should be embarrassed of your team.

We are having the same issue since switching from the Nest App to the Google Home App 30 days ago. On Nest was almost immediate whereas on Google Home is 10-15 minutes. Has thinking about switching to Ring.

Exactly 10 minutes here in Kansas!

Same here doorbell ring coming through fairly quickly, but notifications are 15 minutes when someone is spotted.

Same issue.  We actually had some guys break into my car late Tuesday night, and the doorbell saw motion, but there was no notification until 15-20 minutes later, when they were long gone.

Same issue for us as others are having. He's been going on a couple of weeks. Samsung S20 Ultra and iPhone 11. Doorbell pushes notify immediately. Someone's at the front door delayed 15+ minutes. On same Nest wifi network

I am having the same issue. Notifications are immediate on my google hub, but just had a trick or treater that rang the doorbell. Notification came to the hub. Came to the phone 17 minutes later. Not a big deal when I am home, but getting notifications 17 minutes later when I am not home is a problem.

Same here. Latest notification was 18 minutes delayed. It just started today for both my wife and I on our phones.

I’m also having 5-25 minute delays on my doorbell camera, security cameras but when the doorbell is ring it’s only about the usual 10 second delay. This is clearly a bigger than WiFi or cell phone plan data. All the phones and 2 cell phone providers.

I am also having the same issue 10 to 25 minute delays on my notifications (pixel 6)

Having delays for up to 15-20 minutes until getting notifications on phone. What’s up?

HEY GOOGLE!!! Care to respond to the 3 million posts on this issue? Delayed notification by 15 minutes makes this product useless. What’s going on?

15 minute delay to phone here also.

After being “harassed” every time I logged into my Nest app, I finally migrated my Nest to my Google account this past week - this is when I immediately started having a long (2-10 minute) delay in notifications that there was activity on my doorbell camera. This is DEFINITELY a Google server issue that needs to be addressed immediately. I receive immediate notifications when the  doorbell is pressed, but delays for any motion detected on the front porch.

Same issues. Solid 10 minute delay from a wired nest hello doorbell.

Delays here too!! Just for notifications that someone is at the door. When people rang the doorbell, it alerted me right away

googleuser12321

The delay appears to be different on different devices. Around 5 seconds on phone, but 15 - 20 seconds on Google Home Hub.

I feel that these notifications need to be < 2 seconds to be useful.

Yu same here its been an issues for months for me, Halloween was especially bad 15-20min delay. Me and wife phone get notified at the exact same time. Must be Google server issue

I really really hope Google reads these comments and find a prompt solution.

Interesting observation: data passed through the API does not appear to be delayed. That is to say, when an event occurs, something like Smartthings gets the update almost immediately.

It seems there's a processing delay on the Google side, determining if that motion is a person vs a opossum.

This has been happening to me too.  Reset the nest doorbell (wired) reconnected the wifi and still, notifications lag by 20-40 seconds.  There is a .6 lag in the live feed (watching myself on my phone), but notifications when someone comes to deliver a package, etc. are delayed...  From what I'm reading on this thread it appears to be a google issue.  My wifi is very fast (480mps) and the lag occurs when my phone is on the same network.  Very disappointed in what I thought was a very expensive, high-quality  item.  I'm thinking I should have gone with Ring!

Same issues here. Both my wife and I consistently get camera notifications 5-15 minutes late  with both of our phones connected to wifi. Google, what are you doing to fix this? A lot of people use these systems for security alerts. A 15 minute delay us unacceptable. Seems the delays have gotten really bad since the transition from Nest to Google.

I truly feel I found the cause! I went to the faces saved and deleted the ones I do not know and the ones without names. I get notifications almost real time now!

I'm not a subscriber, so this isn't even something I can enable. I doubt this was an actual fix.

That's worth a try.  I'll see if that fixes it.
