I am planning on installing the camera above my garage and running the wire through my attic. I was looking to cut the end off the power adapter and run it straight to its own breaker on my panel. I don't have any outlets close enough and running an extension cord through the attic is not only against code, it just seems inefficient. I reached out to support and their response was that this would "Not provide enough power" and I had to use an extension cord. Now I'm no electrician but claiming it's not enough power seems absolutely asinine. Does anyone see an issue with this, I don't see why it wouldn't work other than Google claiming it's "not recommended".
Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. Using an extension cord creates an unbalanced power source. Your Nest Camera will require a steady stream of energy in order to power it, and help it to function.
