Direct to breaker

Kleary93

I am planning on installing the camera above my garage and running the wire through my attic. I was looking to cut the end off the power adapter and run it straight to its own breaker on my panel. I don't have any outlets close enough and running an extension cord through the attic is not only against code, it just seems inefficient. I reached out to support and their response was that this would "Not provide enough power" and I had to use an extension cord. Now I'm no electrician but claiming it's not enough power seems absolutely asinine. Does anyone see an issue with this, I don't see why it wouldn't work other than Google claiming it's "not recommended".

Hi there, Kleary93.

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. Using an extension cord creates an unbalanced power source. Your Nest Camera will require a steady stream of energy in order to power it, and help it to function. Please look over this article here for more information on the Power Requirements. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.
