Since updating the home app the nest doorbell now seems to turn on whenever I open the home app (I have other cameras and thermostat so often go into the app). I am sure this is contributing to the battery going down faster. In the older app version the camera was set to idle which meant no picture was visible unless I clicked turn on. Does anyone know how to remedy this so that the doorbell camera doesn't turn on every time I open the home app?

You could remove your doorbell from your "Favorites" so the doorbell does not activate when you open the Google Home app.
We removed all of our cameras and doorbells from "Favorites" in the updated Google Home app to avoid the delay when it tries to livestream all of them immediately upon opening the app. If we want to see all of our cameras' livestreams, we can click on the "Cameras" tile. If we want to see just one camera, we can click on "Devices" and then select the specific camera or doorbell.

Thanks. I'll try it and hopefully it will help the battery drain. I do think it was better before when the doorbell camera remained idle when clicking into the cameras section of the home app rather than live streaming.
