Doorbell doesn't chime on all speakers

Hi,

i have an interesting problem that i can't solve even though i scanned through most previous threads online that's in the same area of problem..

I have a wired Nest doorbell. I works fine and chimes on my old Google Home speaker and an old JBL speaker. However, i recently bought two Harman Kardon Citation 100, "old" speakers but barely used and they are newer than my other speakers. Everything is setup in the exact same way as the other speakers but when i press the doorbell it doesn't chime on the Harman speakers.

I have tried:

Resetting the speakers
Resetting the doorbell
Turned the wifi on/off
Turned notifications and Do not disturb mode on/off again..
Deleted the google home app
Locked the doorbell and speaker to the same wifi-hub and on 2,4Ghz and 5.0Ghz

Don't know what more i can do.. Why does it work with my old speakers but not with the "new" speakers?

Thank you!

Hi @SirBlaizner,

Thanks for the information provided! I appreciate you taking the time to share those details. To troubleshoot this issue further, let’s try a few specific steps to ensure your speakers are set up correctly. Please follow the guide below and let me know how it goes:

  • Turn on Personal Results We need to ensure that Personal Results are enabled for your speakers so they can interact with the doorbell.
    • Open the Google Home app.
    • Tap Settings (the gear icon) > Google Assistant > Personal results.
    • Tap on the speaker you want to edit.
    • Turn on Personal results.
  • Refresh Visitor Announcements Sometimes toggling this setting off and back on can refresh the connection between the doorbell and the speakers.
    • Open the Google Home app.
    • Touch and hold your Nest Doorbell's tile.
    • Tap Settings (gear icon) > Doorbell.
    • Toggle Visitor announcements off, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Check "Do Not Disturb" Please also check that "Do Not Disturb" is off for your speakers.
    • Open the Google Home app > Tap your speaker's tile > Tap Settings.
    • Tap Notifications & digital wellbeing > Do Not Disturb.
    • Make sure it is toggled off.

Keep me posted!

Hi @SirBlaizner,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that you have been experiencing some issues between your Nest Doorbell and your Harman Kardon Citation 100 speakers, specifically that the doorbell is not playing the chime on them, but it works fine on other speakers. I appreciate that you took the time to try some troubleshooting steps! Let me help you with this one.

Before we move forward, I need some information to provide you with the most accurate steps:

  • Is the Google Home app up to date?
  • Are the Harman Kardon speakers under the same Home structure as the doorbell and the other speakers?
  • Do the Harman Kardon speakers have Google Assistant?

Once you provide this information, I will be more than happy to assist you!

Best regards,

Debora

Hi,

Yes, the app is up to date. Tried to delete it and installed it again, no change.

Yes, the speakers are in the same home. Can play music in the same groups as the speakers where the Chime works.

Yes, the speakers have google assistant.

Correction on the spekars, it is Citation One, Not citation 100. Don't know if it matters though.

Thank you!

Hi, thank you.

Personal results was on. Tried to turn it off then on again (one hour later) but no results.

Tried to refresh visitor announcement, again, but no results.

Do not disturb was off. Tried to turn it on the off again but no results.

Additional information is that when I ask the speaker to play music on a Speaker group, or to play music in another room it replies with "playing music on 'group name' " then after 2-3 seconds it says "Hm, something went wrong" and it doesnt work.. It works when i as my old spekaers to play on the sam group and it works when i start the group directly from spotify. So the group works but the Harman spekaers doesn't find it, even though it apparently knows it exits since it first states that it will play from the group..
