Error "can't reach this camera"

Brand new just out of the box Google nest camera (battery). Got two cameras setup while next to the router. Went to setup outdoors at the front door. Then tried to setup with the right angle so I tried to view live. All I get is "can't reach this camera". But I'm still sure it's connected to wifi because it sees my face and sends a pop up notice. 

So I take it back inside thinking it's to far from router. While still next to the router still same problem. No live video "can't reach this camera" I've tried a bunch of times resetting things and such. I've gotten the live option to work twice. But can't exit and go view live again. It's broken. 

What do I need to do?

The camera works intermittently.  No explanation as to why it errors "can't reach this camera"  I've tried it under the same circumstances and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  

I've looked online for suggestions, but the closest I think I've come was some technical details I didn't understand that would require tweaking the router, but since it works sometimes I wasn't willing to mess with router settings just yet. 

I have rebooted phone and router. I turned off and on the camera, I don't see a reboot option for the camera.

My next plan of action is to have my wife download app and try it on her phone and see if it's a phone issue.  I have a OnePlus Nord N100

Update, still not working well through my phone.   Seems to work well with my wifes phone. Galaxy A20.  Great.
