False Person alerts on the gen 2 Nest Outdoor (battery) camera

I just started using one of the newer Gen 2 Outdoor (battery) Cameras.

I have it plugged into constant power and I have Nest Aware Plus for 24/7 recording.

Is anyone else getting FALSE Person alerts?   About 3 or 4 times a day I get an alert that it sees a person but the area is completely still with no obvious mention of any kind and no people are there.

Any ideas?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this, but I believe that Activity Zones will help you out in this situation. You can learn more about them here. I hope you find the article helpful. If you continue to have the same false notifications, give it a factory reset and see if you get less of them. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best regards,
Brad

Hi Brad,  thanks for the reply.

#1  I can try the activity zones but the problem is I need to know if anyone is anywhere in the FULL FRAME.

#2 The camera is literally brand new.  So I'm not sure what a factory reset will do.  Also, my fear from reading all the comments on this site is that if I factory reset the camera it will not successfully let me re-add it to the system and then I will be stuck.

@EmptyNester

I see your dilemma here. Has it been snowy or rainy where you live lately? I have been seeing some reports in the forums of users getting these type of alerts when the weather is rainy or snowy. Try to lower your sensitivity to see if that makes a difference. If you continue to have the same experience, please let me know, and we'll have you fill out a support form to seek help from a higher tier of support.

Best regards,

Brad
