I use the nest app to monitor a number of devices. In stalled a floodlight camera but when you add the device in nest it says use Google home. The camera installed and works fine but I cannot get it into the nest app. How do I get the camera active in the nest app?

You have discovered what the rest of us Google Nest customers have also discovered. The Google Nest cameras and doorbells released starting in the fall of 2021 work ONLY with the Google Home app and NOT with the Google Nest app or the home.nest.com website.
You can find Google's rationale in this blog on this forum, along with customer reactions:

Hi and thanks for pointing me in the right direction. This is extremely disappointing news rom the folks at Google as I fear the new app dates will slip which will just impact existing users further. I wish I hadn't bought the new unit now so will see if I can return it.
Thanks again for your help MplsCustomer

Hey folks,
Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App or available on https://bit.ly/3HtBgJC web app. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration.
However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support. I am more than happy to assist you further with this inquiry if you wish. Please let me know.
Best Regards,
Brad.
