New Google Doorbell (Battery) will.not show live video, record fine but nothing live, just says Live Video Unavailable.

Have reset tried again, then done full factory reset and still the same???

Well I've got it working. I factory reset the device and set it up using my iPad instead of my Samsung. Live video now works, I can set up zones and it also works on my Android phone too.

Damned weird that it needs to be setup that way, but at least it's working properly now

Maybe it's a limitation of the battery doorbell, which always runs off of the battery, which gets trickle charged if connected to power. (Others have reported symptoms like yours in this forum.) Our Google Nest Camera (Battery) would always be in "Idle" mode except for the fact that we have it plugged in all the time with the optional power cable, causing it to be "Live" all the time.  Connecting the battery doorbell to one's doorbell wires does not seem to have the same effect.

I'm getting the same issue too. Quite frustrating.

Hey folks,

I wanted to remind you of some Important things to know before you factory reset. After you factory reset your camera or doorbell:

  • Your camera will forget your Wi-Fi network name and password.
  • Your camera will be "Offline" in the app. You won't be able to use it until you remove it from the app and reconnect it.
  • Any custom camera settings will revert to default settings.
  • If you want to save any video footage, before you factory reset, create video clips or timelapses and download the files to your phone or computer.
  • If you have a Nest Aware subscription and you plan to continue using your camera or doorbell with the same account, do not cancel your subscription.
  • If you plan to get rid of your camera or add it to a new account, before you factory reset, cancel your Nest Aware subscription. After you cancel, your camera's entire video history, Activity Zones, and snapshots will be erased as soon as you remove your camera from the app. Once your video history and snapshots are deleted, they're gone forever. They cannot be recovered. We do not keep backups.

Important: Because a factory reset permanently erases the items listed above, we don’t recommend doing it as a troubleshooting step until you’ve tried restarting your camera and other troubleshooting options.

Best regards,

Brad

Hi Jake,

In short 'no'.

Still nit able to view live feed and it can't be WiFi related as I have a cam with floodlight at the back of the house which works fine.

Also need to get some kind of internal chime, can i use an Echo Dot as a chime, kids don't hear the doorbell if my wife and I are out?

Do you have a Nest Aware subscription? Also, have you made sure that your Google Home App is updated to the latest software? You should be able to view your live feed as long as your camera is connected to a strong wifi connection. What other troubleshooting steps have you taken to troubleshoot a potential connectivity issue?

Best regards,

Brad

@Brad

Is a Nest Aware subscription required in order to get a live feed on the battery doorbell?

Hi Brad,

My Google Cam with floodlight works perfectly so how could it be the subscription?

Can I also not connect with a Google speaker to act as internal chime?

Same issue here. Can't view the live feed, so can't see a live view to edit zones and so get too many alerts for people outside my preferred zone.

I've a full Nest Aware subscription, my other Nest camera is working fine in the same location, and the doorbell is working in a way as it can send alerts and records fine.

The live view just doesn't work.

I reset the camera twice just now. I got a brief moment of live view and then it won't work. Reset it again and no live view still. Quite frustrating

I've checked on both my Samsung Galaxy S20+ and iPad Pro 2 and I cannot live stream the camera on either device.

@Skippy555

Samsung devices struggle with our cameras from what I have seen. Not quite sure this is something that I can fix for you. You can try to reach out to Support if you wish.

Thanks, I'll contact support as I'm not happy I can't use my doorbell properly at the moment.

Any idea why it doesn't work on my iPad though as well?
