Google Doorbell Wired Gen 2 Offline

I've had a weird doorbell for one year. The original one was purchased at a Best Buy, but the original camera was defective.  I received my warranty changeover, and the new doorbell lasted about a week before it started acting up.  I have been rebooting over and over again.  I have also changed the transformer, thinking it was the issue. It has not been corrected. I am not outside the warranty of the original purchase, and it's still not working.

Hi DanS1979,

Thanks for posting in this community.

I understand that you have a Google Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) that keeps going offline after only about a week of use, even though it's a warranty replacement. I appreciate the troubleshooting efforts you have tried to restore the connection. No worries, help is here.

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

  • Are you using an Android or an iPhone to manage your doorbell?
  • What is the make and model of your router?
  • What color is the LED light on your doorbell?
  • How far is your doorbell from the router?
  • Do other devices experience slow internet speed?
  • Are you getting any error code or messages on the Google Home app when the doorbell goes offline?
  • Are you connecting your doorbell to a 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near your doorbell?
  • Could you please check with a multimeter what the current voltage reading is at the doorbell?
  • Has the doorbell been exposed to direct sunlight?
  • Could you please perform an internet speed test while you are having the issue? (Please let me know the download and upload speed readings.)

Please reply with the requested information so we can continue troubleshooting and find a solution.

Best regards,

Virna
