Google Nest Camera Offline

famecity

Wow is this frustrating.  I currently have 3 indoor cameras and 2 doorbells and an outdoor camera that all work great. I added a new Google Nest Cam only to find out that it can only be used with the Home app. That is a huge inconvenience but still can live with it. However, the new camera spends about as much time offline as it does online. I have tried moving closer to the router, farther away from other cameras and it still goes offline more than it is on. I can't believe this is a Google product.

Hey folks,

Restarting and factory resetting your Google Nest camera or doorbell will have different results:

Restart: Keeps all your settings, and it should reconnect to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever becomes frozen, has trouble reconnecting to the internet, or isn't working normally.

Factory reset: Erases all your settings and options, and restores its factory default settings. It will not automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi and you'll need to set it up again.

You can find this information, plus additional information on this process here. Please let me know if you have further questions.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Yes...We have tried that numerous times. Camera goes offline in a couple of hours after the factory reset.

@famecity

There is no way around this as currently, the new 2021 cams are not available in the Nest App. You will need to use the Google Home app for these devices if you wish to use them.

I have this same problem and use the Google Home app. I have been getting multiple notifications a day that the doorbell camera is offline, and now it’s been offline since yesterday.

Hey folks,

Thanks for the help, Brad.

How far is the camera from the router? Do you have other Nest devices in the house? Also, are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the camera?

Check out this link to Troubleshoot offline Nest camera or doorbell.

Thanks,

Archie

I’m switching internet companies to see if a stronger setup will help. My internet is disconnected now, but it was constant with Verizon wireless internet

I’m having this same issue. My Outdoor camera is offline more than it’s online. I’ve factory reset it, but that hasn’t worked. Any other ideas?

I don't have any more ideas. Sorry you  are having the same problem.

I am having he same issue. The camera goes offline several times a week. The only thing that seems to work is a restart of my modem and router.  Any somutions?

Thanks for the tip. I will try that. Sorry for you having the same problem.

I tried the reset of my router but I’m having the same issues. A Google support person had me answer a dozen or so questions and then said the issue must be with my ISP.  Grrr…

I also talked to a support specialist. In the end it was suggested I get a hold of a person or company that Google uses to fix things. I know it won't be free. I had my old doorbell since 1998 and no problem. Now I go and get a video doorbell that I have had troubles with ever since I bought it less than 3 years ago. At least the older doorbells were dependable and cheaper.
