Google Nest Cameras NOT recording events

I have searched the community and see several people seemingly have the same issues that we are, but I have not seen any real answers.  We have cameras that observe some events but not others. Example, our North side camera caught me walking out the door, but 30 minutes later one of neighbors was walking her dogs through our yard and our other neighbors house.  It did not catch her at all.  She had to walk within 15 ft of the camera.  The event zone should have caught her even if she was on our neighbors yard.  FYI, this is not her yard she is walking through, she lives two houses away on the south side of our home.  We have a Nest Aware account through ADT.  Our Backyard camera does not catch her either when she walks behind our chain link fence, but we pickup the mowers when they are there.  Is there a firmware issue, how do we update?

@Pdussault29

We've had a 2nd gen Google Nest battery camera for almost 4 years now, plugged in with the optional power cable. If we unplug it to test it in battery mode, it usually does NOT wake up from "Idle" mode to detect and record someone walking in front of the camera. But when it is plugged in and running on household current, it is good at detecting events and is similar to our 1st gen wired cameras.

Thank you for your response.  I did forget to mention that this North Side camera is the only one we have that is on battery power.  Fully charged one week ago.  The backyard camera is connected to power.  How do you check for idle mode?

When the battery camera is not plugged in, it is in normally in "Idle" mode and is supposed to wake up if it detects an event or if you start to view it in the Google Home app. So there is no way to check if it is "Idle" mode.

When we check our plugged-in battery camera in the Google Home app it is always "Live" and under Settings | Battery it always shows as "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol.

You gave me an idea.  I checked the battery settings and it was set to balanced.  I changed it to more recording.  Says it will have maximum sensitivity.  I’ll see if that changes anything
