Just had ADT install a security system using the Google Nest gen 2 wired doorbell. I am using an iPhone 14 Pro and the Google Home app.
The challenge I have is when my doorbell is pressed, I hear nothing inside my home and the only notification I get on my iPhone is the standard "ding" that every other app uses which is not loud enough or persistent enough when the phone is in your pocket. I came from Ring where the app actually put off a sound of a doorbell that was easily recognizable and heard. I have frequent visitors and deliveries and have missed many as I don't know when the doorbell is being pushed unless I just happen to be looking at my phone. The whole purpose of a doorbell is to know when someone is at your door - the options for notifications through Google Home are terrible and useless. I wonder if these are the same options that Android users experience or if the experience they have is more rich? I have just spent over $1k on cameras and setup and I don't even know when someone is at my door now - Google you have to do better or tell me what I am doing wrong? I've been through all the settings on my phone and in the Google Home app and all notifications are on - but you can't modify the sound or change anything.

We've had Google Nest Hello Doorbells for years. The only notification Google Nest provides on iPhones is the standard iOS notification, and it is not configurable.
We also have Nest Hubs and a Nest Mini, and have "Visitor announcements" turned on (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451).

That doesn’t solve my problem. The hub and speaker only serves the purpose if your home. Terrible design..the notifications should be customizable like ring and others offer.

Hi folks
Jmart, thanks for reaching out. Modifying the notification sound is not supported. Our team is working hard to deliver the best experience for our users — I'd suggest you submit feedback about it, here's how. Keep your eye on the Google Nest Community page for any updates.
Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns as I will be locking this in 24 hours if I won't hear back from you again. Feel free to start a new thread and we'll be happy to help.
Appreciate the help here, MplsCustomer.
Regards,
Juni
