Google Nest Gen 2 Wired Doorbell - Transformer Question

Yonge
Community Member

I have purchased a good nest gen 2 wired doorbell, but when I went to go install it, the transformer reads that is currently being used in my home on my doorbell chime says "10V-16V"

Would this be compatible with my Doorbell? Or should I upgrade the transformer?

Thank You

@Yonge

These are Google Nest's requirements:

Many customers, including us, have upgraded to 16V 30VA transformers in order to get our doorbells to work.

Hi, thank you for your reply. So if my transformer is 10-16V and it says 30VA that should work right?

@Yonge

I don't know. I don't know what it means if the transformer says it is 10V to 16V.

We upgraded to a 16V 30 VA transformer a couple of years ago when we got a second Google Nest Hello Doorbell, and it works fine.

Hello folks,

@Yonge, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. The Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) has higher power requirements than most doorbells. You need a transformer that is rated for 16-24 V AC, 10-40 VA to provide enough power to your doorbell. If you've already installed your doorbell and you see a blinking yellow light on the front, your doorbell isn't receiving enough power.
