Google Nest doorbell constantly shows device offline messages

I initially installed my Google Nest doorbell as wired and everything works as expected.  A couple days after installation my wife and I constantly receive device offline messages from Google Home on both the Android and iOS versions of the app.  After some research I've boiled down the root cause to either the control power on the battery, which should not matter because it is hard wired, or connectivity to the wifi network.  For troubleshooting purposes I've fully charged the camera battery, factory reset it, and reconnected it to Google Home.  The problem is that it does not give any choice to select the wifi network.  It automatically piggy backs on the network that your phone is using.  I installed a wifi range extender and connected to its network, but the doorbell will not complete the setup process.  It gets stuck on the scanning process and only connects when using the original home wifi network.  From watching other nest doorbell installation videos there was an option to select the wifi network at one point in time.  WHY was this option removed!?  Is there a hidden method to manually select the wifi network it connects to, so I can select the wifi extension network instead?

Your best bet for this problem is to speak to a Google Nest Tech to help get things reset at their end.  I don't think you fix this form your end.  Google techs do not respond on this user forum so you actually need to speak with one of them. Here is the link to open a support ticket and get someone on the phone.   There are a few hoops to jump thru but it works.

IF they get you up and running please come back here and give us some details.  It might help some other people running into the same thing
