The Google/Nest floodlight cam was a big waste of money. When you buy it the wording they use for the saving of activity is just plain deceiving. If you don’t purchase the monthly subscription for Nest Aware the camera is just plain worthless for recording things. That’s of course when it works, half the time it’s unavailable, and the wifi signal strength is strong. I’ll be taking down this waste of money and buy one with local available event history. I should have known better, the Nest thermostats were great, then they were bought out by Google and everything went the way of corporate logic, if your not sending them money currently then they could care less.

Hello Ibby,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. For newer cameras like Nest Cam (battery) or Nest Doorbell (battery), you can get up to 3 hours of event video history without a subscription. But for most older Nest camera and doorbell models, you need a Nest Aware subscription to get event video history or 24/7 video history. This means that without a subscription, you can get photo snapshots of detected activity for up to 3 hours in the past.
To know more about this issue, I’d like to confirm, how far is it from your Wi-Fi router? Are there any appliances in between your Nest Doorbell and router that can interfere with the wireless signal? For troubleshooting, you may try restarting your Nest Doorbell and Wi-Fi router and monitor its behavior.

Let us know how it goes.
