Woman attacked in front of my doorbell, Google won't help

A woman was violently attacked in front of my doorbell in the street but it didn't register an event, I can't view any unless there is an event but I limited events to just in my yard. I have nest aware.

I contacted Google but they literally didn't care. Shocking, but I guess they don't care about this kind of thing.

So the women asked for footage but I can't help her. I guess I'll just post on LinkedIn or Twitter or Reddit?

Maybe someone will help me or warn their legal/press team?

@TechGuy123

It is terrible that a woman was attacked in front of your door!

However, if you have a "Nest Aware" subscription (30 days of EVENT video history), and if you have a battery doorbell (where 24/7 recording is not available even if your doorbell is wired (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/13318581), then your doorbell will ONLY record the events you have specified in the activity zone(s) you have specified, and then only if the doorbell woke up and detected the event. There would be no other footage that anyone at Google Nest could provide you.

I'm just another Google Nest customer, so I can't speak to how the Support staff treated you, but even so, there would be no other video footage available on your account.

hey @TechGuy123 I only have cameras not doorbells but hopefully things aren't much different - with camera if you have 24x7 recording on, you can see that incident on the timeline and it's just a matter of downloading then there a new functionality added to Google Home added a functionality to download any part of time but you have to benrolled in "Public preview" program (from Settings) to have it available. You can now initiate a download at any given time in the timeline with "Save clip" option is now constantly available and choose how much time you want to download from that point (30 secs, 1 min, 3 mins, 5 mins).

It was announced here https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/New-updates-to-Google-Home-for-camera-users-new-AI-image... but it looks like it didn't find its way to the mainline version yet.

But if you don't have 24x7 recording on or doorbell does this differently than camera then it was probably never sent to the cloud anyway.

Hello everyone,

@TechGuy123, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. What they've shared above is correct. To confirm, which Nest Aware do you have?

Looking forward to your response.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer and shogo.

Regards,
