My doorbell is a (gen 1) wired! I had to change my WiFi and that means I had to redo all the speakers and doorbell. Well my camera is showing pictures and videos and sound. When you ring the doorbell you hear it outside but the inside speakers don’t work anymore! I have done all the steps that I read and saw on YouTube! Someone please help!

Hi Ladysax45,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that your indoor speakers aren't chiming with your wired Nest Doorbell (Gen 1) after the Wi-Fi change, especially since the camera and outdoor chime are working. Let's get this sorted out.

To start, could you tell me which troubleshooting steps you've already tried from online resources?

Also, can you confirm that all your speakers are showing as online and connected in the Google Home app?

What models of speakers do you have?

Finally, have you checked if the visitor announcement option is enabled for your doorbell within the app? You can find instructions in this article: Get doorbell visitor announcements on a speaker or display. Please ensure this setting is active.

Looking forward to your response so we can find the right solution.

Best regards,

Kevin

Hi Ladysax45,

Thank you for your response and the pictures provided. Let's work together for a solution.

Let's ensure everything is set up right. Since you've confirmed visitor announcements are on in your camera settings and your Google speakers/displays respond to voice commands without issue, please try this: Say, "Hey Google, turn off do not disturb." Once the assistant confirms it's off, test your doorbell again to see if you receive the indoor chime notification.

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Best regards,

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I asked Google to turn off do not disturb! And it’s still not working! I have a question? On the visitor announcement tab should it switch back and forth when you go out of the setting? Because on the other things they stay until I move them on or off.

Hi Ladysax45,

Thank you for your response. Let's work together for a solution.

Regarding your question about the visitor announcement tab, the behavior you're describing where it switches back and forth when you leave the settings is not the normal or expected behavior for a toggle switch like that. Typically, once you set a toggle to "on" or "off," it should remain in that state until you manually change it again, even if you navigate away from the settings page.

The fact that it's switching back and forth suggests there might be an underlying issue. Here are some possibilities and things to do to try to fix the issue:

  • Sign out of the Nest account on all devices it's signed into, including computers.

    1. Delete the app.

    2. Restart the phone.

    3. Reinstall the app.

    4. Turn off your speakers for 2 minutes by unplugging the power cable.

  • Sign in and turn all notification settings and visitor announcements back on. If needed, double-check if the Nest web app has the same settings.

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Regards,

Kevin
