Google home- nest battery camera

With the old wired cam on the nest app I was able to scroll video in a time lapse fashion even if there were no events.
with the new battery cam and home app I found this in the blog post

  • For 24/7 video history, footage with no activity is marked as gray on the timeline. If there are gaps in the 24/7 video history, then the camera was either turned off or offline.

I assume this means no recorded event no video history available to be seen?
is this a battery issue that could be solved by adding the solar panel or using the camera wired?

We've had a battery camera for over 3 years, plugged into household current with the optional power cable, and has been "Live", online, and recording ever since. The camera has to be plugged in, in order to get the 24/7 video history that is enabled with a Nest Aware Plus subscription.

When viewing video history, you can toggle between a Timeline or an Events list (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10904254). When viewing the Timeline, the footage in between events shows in gray, but you can click anywhere on the timeline to view the footage between the detected events, PROVIDED THAT, as I said above, the camera is plugged into household current.

If your camera is plugged into a solar panel, it still runs off of the battery ("If you’ve connected your Nest Cam [battery] to the Wasserstein Solar Panel, the panel doesn’t directly power the camera. Instead, the battery is trickle charged by the panel, and the camera runs off the battery charge." - https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/11830989) and therefore CANNOT record 24/7.

"*The Nest Cam (battery) must be connected to a power source to have 24/7 video history. If your camera is battery powered, it will only have event video history, even if you have a Nest Aware Plus subscription. 24/7 video history isn't available for the Nest Doorbell (battery), even with optional wired installation." - https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9681538

The reason for this is that the battery cannot provide enough power for 24/7 recording; the battery would be quickly depleted.
