Google nest deurbel

Hallo,

Hi Kristl,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand you installed a Nest doorbell device and replaced the transformer with a 16V one, but when the doorbell is pressed, it continues to buzz and stays stuck. I appreciate you confirming that the same happened with an old 8V transformer. I know how difficult it is when a device doesn't work as expected, and I'll be glad to help! To gather some more details, I'd like to ask the following questions:

  • What's your Nest doorbell device model? Please check out the following link for your reference: Technical specs for Nest cameras and doorbells
  • Did you install the chime connector that is included in the box?
  • What's your transformer make and model?

Please keep me posted. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Juan

Hello Juan,

That is correct what you say.

With 8v nothing happened. There is no chime connector included. Is the one with batterij but installed wired, as this was possible. Perhaps that is the solution but I do not knowx if this will help. My cousin has the  same with no problem with 8v and no chime connector.

Hi Kristl,

Thanks for following up and for the information you shared earlier! While the chime connector is not available for purchase separately, the Nest Doorbell (battery) doesn't need it for wired or battery-powered installation. It's important to note that some factors might affect the compatibility of your Nest Doorbell (battery) with your chime. Let's work together to find a solution! To diagnose the root cause of this inconvenience, I'd like to ask the following questions:

  • Did you select the wired terminals or battery option during the set up process?
  • How many wires does your chime have?

Please keep me in the loop. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Juan

Hi Kristl,

Thanks for keeping me updated! I understand you chose the wired option during the setup process on the Google Home app. Thank you for confirming that your chime has two wires. I'd be glad to help you out!

While the option to change between wired and battery status isn't available in the Google Home app settings after setup, it's only configurable during the initial process.

Let's figure out if your current transformer is compatible with your Nest Doorbell (battery).

  • Does your transformer have any labels? If so, what do they say?
  • Did you notice any molded or etched warning signs on the transformer's body?

I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Juan
