Google nest doorbell connecting to a nest mini on another network

I am interested in getting a nest doorbell, and already own some nest minis.

However, in our house, we have 2 separate Wi-Fi. 1 for the ground and first floor and then the 2nd
(ours) on the 2nd floor. Our nest mini speakers are connected to the 2nd Wi-Fi, but the nest doorbell would need to be connected to the 1st Wi-Fi as the signal will not be strong enough.

Is it possible to use them together in order for the Nest minis to be used as chimes for the doorbell even though they are not connected to the same network?

You need a mesh Wifi system, and get everything on the same network.

I guess that's a no then. We have mesh routers and used the same network around the whole house before, but it was very much not ideal as we needed better internet on the upper floor. But I guess I will see what i can do to get it working.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this, as I can imagine it has been an inconvenience. I would love to look into this further for you. As user @kiltguy2112 stated, it would not work as you intended in this case, as the doorbell would need to be on the same connection as the mini that is providing the alert. If your smart speakers/displays are on different Wi-Fi routers, or connections, it would not most likely work the same way for you. Please let me know if you have further questions or concerns.

Best regards,
Brad
