Google nest first gen setting up

Hi everyone!

We just moved into a new home and the previous owner left behind a Google Nest Doorbell (1st Gen, Wired). I’m trying to add it to my Google account, but I can’t figure out how to remove the doorbell to access the QR code on the back for setup.

Is there any other way to add the device without scanning the QR code? Or can someone guide me on how to safely remove the doorbell from the wall to access the code?

Appreciate any help!

Unfortunately, you need either the QR code or the 6-character alphanumeric setup code that is printed above or below the QR code on the back of the doorbell.

To remove the doorbell, you need to install a paperclip in the small hole in the bottom of the doorbell, as shown after about 6:20 on the install video on the Help page below:

It might be a bit challenging to get the doorbell to release if it's been mounted for years. (We have three 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbells.)

Also, in order for you to install the doorbell in your Google Nest app, the previous owner first needs to have removed it from their Nest Account in their Google Nest app while their Wi-Fi network was still active (this triggers a factory reset).
