Hello Doorbell (wired) audio feedback issue

Installed Nest Hello doorbell and can not figure out how to use the talk feature without all the audio feedback/squeal. I've tried through the Nest app (5.69.0.5) on my Android (Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, Android 12) and the nest website on my Mac (OS 12.5.1, Firefox 104.0.1). On the Android, I get a really bad echo with an escalating feedback (high pitched squeal, like the sound the Nest Protect smoke alarms make) when the microphone icon on the Android phone is pressed. Audio conversation is impossible.

On the Mac, using the Nest website, if I press the microphone icon, I do not get any audio on the Mac from the Hello doorbell, but the Hello doorbell plays the Mac audio feed and then does the feedback squeal loop thing, chasing off the person at the front door.

I have looked at multiple posts here and none of them solved the issue. They are all closed/locked without offering up a solution.

If I can not resolve this issue, I will return the Hello doorbell and purchase a competitor's model.

Hey there,

I am terribly sorry to hear that you're having this issue with your Nest Doorbell! I'm sure it's frustrating, but I'm happy to look into this and see how we can help out. The first troubleshooting step that I'd recommend would be to restart your device. By doing this, it should keep all your settings, and reconnect it to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever freezes, has connection problems, or isn't working normally. It can also clear out other issues you may be seeing with the doorbell.

Best regards,
Brad

Hey there,

Just checking in here. Our team is still collecting info to investigate this behavior. If you're experiencing audio issues with 1st gen Nest Hello Doorbell and a Samsung Galaxy S21+, please submit feedback and let us know how that goes in the comments below.

Best regards,

JT

Hi there - it seems that there is a generic issue with the Nest Hello Wred door bell that there is no software-based noise cancellation. When will this issue be fixed. It's a major problem and something that your competitors do not experience!

Please can we have an update.
