Hello battery doorbell + Wireless chime

Veeds

Hi,

The house I’m moving into did not have a doorbell or chime. I bought a Hello battery powered doorbell and and now researching which chime to purchase so I can install inside the home while ensuring the hello doorbell is compatible with it. What’s the best way to do this?

The Google Nest Hello Doorbell (always wired) is entirely different from the new Google Nest Doorbell (Battery), which can be wired or not, but runs off of the battery, which is trickle-charged at a very low level if wired.  (Google's names can be confusing.)

If you live in a climate where temperatures drop below 32 F (0 C), you should know that Google Nest just disclosed this evening that the Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) cannot charge when temperatures are below 32 F (0 C), even if the doorbell is wired.  (See this very long thread (500+ replies: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Cold-weather-concerns-with-Nest-Doorbel...)

If you plan on wiring your Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) to a conventional indoor chime, the choice of chime is up to you, but the chime and the transformer need to meet these compatibility requirements:

I'm just another Google Nest customer.

i would return the doorbell asap.

sharing my feedback to save ANYONE the frustration we've all had with these @Google products.

re: cameras (doorbells, nest cams, etc)

1. the 2way voice does not work if you have a samsung device.  @Google has known about this for over a year but hasn't fixed it.  Isn't it great that when someone rings your doorbell, you cannot even talk to them?  Great product.

2.live video streaming is not available from any of the cameras to chromecast. It is advertised all over, including the on the box and during the @Google home app setup - but it isn't an option.

So, you can't talk over them, or see the feeds - what is the point.

I've called google support, the google store, and ALL of the reps are worthless.  They have done nothing to help or make this right.

If you are considering a home security camera, or doorbell, I would STRONGLY recommend you look elsewhere.  @Google service is trash, just like their devices.

Feel free to reply if you have any questions or if I can provide more details.  I hope no one has to go through this and be out nearly $500 for products that are useless.
