How-to for disabling notifications for familiar faces

Hi,

For people frustrated with notifications getting triggered by familiar faces, here is how to hide them:

  1. Download MacroDroid: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arlosoft.macrodroid
  2. Tap "Macros" at the bottom of the screen
  3. Tap "+" at the bottom of the screen
  4. In "Enter macro name", type "Home familiar faces" (for example)
  5. Tap "+" in "Triggers"
  6. Tap "Device Events"
  7. Tap "Notification"
  8. "Notification Received" > OK
  9. "Select Application(s)" > OK
  10. Search for the "Home" app > Select > Include > OK
  11. Select "Any"
  12. Uncheck all checkboxes
  13. Tap OK
  14. Tap "+" in "Actions"
  15. Tap "Notification"
  16. Tap "Clear Notifications"
  17. "Select Application(s)" > OK
  18. Search for the "Home" app > Select > Include > OK
  19. Select "Matches"
  20. Select "Enable regular expression matching"
  21. In "Enter text to match", type ".*(Person1|Person2|Person3).*(seen).*" (replace "PersonX" with real names from your face library)
  22. Uncheck other checkboxes
  23. Tap OK
  24. Tap the 3 dots on the top right
  25. Tap "Save changes"
  26. Tap on "MacroDroid Mode: Standard" in the notification center
  27. Disable "Persistent notification"

This will hide notifications like:

  • "Alex seen"
  • "Alex • Activity or animal seen"
  • "Sarah and Alex seen"

You will still receive notifications like the below (unknown persons or IA taking some time to recognize the person):

  • "Person seen"
  • "Unfamilar face seen"
  • "Activity or animal seen"

You will still receive "doorbell pressed" notifications as well:

  • "Doorbell • Alex"
  • "Doorbell • Alex and others"
