How/Where do I replace failed (Empty battery) Google Nest Cam G3AL9 IP54; SN 29091J3D524KV6, SET UP CODE F11HKK?
I have been having problem getting it to connect and go on line for a few weeks now.  Always a battery issue.  I even tried a different/new cable but no change, attached or not attached to magnetic base.  I am sure it is less than a year old so how do I get a replacement?

Not much of a choice for ''Issue category'!!!

@jriccardi

If you are within the 1-year warranty period, you could try contacting Support:

https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

You cannot replace the battery on the battery camera.

This is the most piece of **bleep** support site running me in circles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Camera is under warranty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  How do I get  replacement????????????????????

@jriccardi

This is a community forum.  Like most who post replies here, I'm just another Google Nest customer.  If your camera is still under warranty, you'll need to contact Support (https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp) to get it replaced.  Sometimes a Google Nest Community Specialist will see a post like this and post a "form" that can be used to initiate a replacement.

Yes, I contacted support and I think I am getting a replacement camera under warranty for the one with battery issues but they want my credit card before they will send it.  I don't think that is fair but...
However, I am not sure if it is also not a compatibility issue with the Google Home app because I actually have 2 new Google cameras and both had trouble staying connected to GH app.  Soooooo...
PS.  As an FYI, I also have 5 of the original Nest cameras (BG=Before Google) and with the original Nest they work OK...

I just received a response from support and it looks like they are replacing both cameras under warranty.  And another FYI, the GH app has a problem with the older Nest cameras; unavailable/offline/etc.  Does anyone have any experience with this mix of cameras on the GH app?

Why the rush?  Originally I was told 2 replacement cameras were on order and charges on my credit card would appear until I returned the original cameras.  Now I just received emails telling me I have to order them myself and charged to my credit card.  This has now dragged on for weeks!

Why do I always get this failure message when I respond to this Google Nest Community messages???

All the best,

I find this Community thread confusing and difficult to follow but the outcome of my issue is as follows...
2 warranty replacement cameras were finally received and installed to replace the 2 older cameras.  All 7 cameras (5 old Nest & 2 new Google) appear to be working and compatible with Google Home, at least overnight...
I never would have been able to resolve without direct involvement by Google Support...
However, I have not had a chance to figure out simple functions in Google Home that were available with the older Nest app and the original Nest cameras like creating zones and clips, viewing history (HR/MIN/SEC), etc.  I'll try to figure it all out.  Is there no manual/guide for GH?
PS.  Given the choice to stick with the old Nest app, I would buy the original Nest cameras if anyone has old Nest cameras (pre-Google) for sale???
Thanks to all for the help...
Joseph

@jriccardi

There is no manual or guide for the Google Home app.

However, you can try searching Google Nest Help, keeping in mind that the instructions have not yet been updated for the new version of the Google Home app currently being rolled out.

https://support.google.com/googlenest

There is this help topic on the new version of the Google Home app:

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7071794

I am having NO luck getting the new Google cameras to work, ditto for the Google Home app!  The 5 of 7 older Nest cameras with the Nest app work fine and have for years.  Anyone have any of the original Nest cameras for sale?

jriccardi
Community Member

My camera system includes 5 original style Nest cameras that always worked with the original style Nest app (BG = Before Google), and 2 Google style cameras that used to work (I think) until the Google Home (GH) app was recently updated, in addition 1 of the 2 Google style cameras has failed (dead battery and will not charge) still under warranty!!!
After 23 days and dozens of tests, try this/try that, and dozens of screenshots of the results, and promises to credit my account for the 2 original Google style cameras that no longer work with the Google Home (GH) app and 1 is failed with a dead battery (RMAs received and cameras shipped back per their instructions and approval and now they claim "...we won't be able to refund your purchases"), and 1 of the 2 replacement cameras arrived DOA and camera will not charge, Google is walking away from my situation with "We're sorry for missing the mark..."!!!
I am stuck in a situation where I returned 2 cameras per their stated approval and instructions and now they claim they will not refund my $s and of the 2 replacement cameras 1 is dead and 1 appears to be working (temporary?).  My position is that the Google style cameras are not reliable (2 of 4 failed to hold a charge) and are not compatible with the updated GH app!  Even when charged and working, they constantly lost connection to the app.  I have sent them screeshots of everything I stated above.  At this point, I want nothing to do with the Google style cameras and am searching the Internet for 2 of the original Nest style cameras that are for sale.  If anyone knows of any available please let em know...
Joseph... Totaly disgusted with the Google products and Google support!!!

Im fed up with googles lies rhetoric and generic replies. Pathetic behavior from a garbage company

jriccardi
Community Member

The latest on this subject is that the support contact stopped responding when I followed up on getting my $s back on the 2 cameras that did NOT work and he specifically provided detailed instructions on how to return them which I did and they acknowledged they were received a week ago...

Worse, he is now playing semantics with the word "warranty"; "yes it is under warranty but not that kind of warranty!"  DUH!!!
I agree with the above comment by Fraa Bronze...
"Im fed up with googles lies rhetoric and generic replies. Pathetic behavior from a garbage company"
Note:  My conclusion is that the Google cameras are not compatible with the Google Home app.  They all disconnect or fail or battery charge error constantly!!!
I'm still hoping to find 2 of the original 'Nest' cameras as the 5 I already had work fine with the old Nest app...
