I want to buy a Nest Doorbell. My transformer says 20vac 500ma.

I want to buy a Nest Doorbell. My transformer says output is 20vac 500ma.  However when I run my cheap multimeter across the terminals it settles on 25.6v.  The Nest blurb says it wants between 8 and 24v.  Will my 25.6v screw it?  Thanks!

If the voltage is higher than 24 V AC, without a step down transformer, it could damage your doorbell.

You could contact a local pro installer to upgrade your transformer so it can work with Nest doorbell, or alternatively install the Nest doorbell with the optional Nest doorbell plug-in adapter, which lets you plug the Nest doorbell into an indoor power outlet.
