LED on Nest Cam

My nest cam (1st gen) LED light is lit red, not blinking. Some research showed that this means that the LED is not working right, but is there an easy way to fix this?

The LED is on because Google's lawyers have decided that surveillance cameras that film other people might make those people (such as burglars, etc.) feel uncomfortable by having their privacy violated.  As such, Google has made it mandatory that all of its surveillance cameras announce themselves with a red LED to ensure everyone knows where they are.  It's one of the many steps taken by Google after taking over Nest.

The LED is supposed to be green when the camera is on, and blinking green when it is being viewed. The red LED indicates that something is wrong with the LED itself, I was just wondering if it's an easy fix, maybe something I can do myself. Not really worried about it enough to take it in and have it serviced, becuase the camera still works fine...more curious than concerned.
