Hey team and community. I'm a little late to the party. I just read the announcement from back in April about Dropcam's demise. I remember having this concern back when I purchased my cameras and found out I could only access it through a particular viewing method (locked to one provider--not available to stream to other open source platforms). From researching that, I found where it was stated that if this should ever happen the authors would release a firmware update that would open up the cameras to be connected to third party viewing apps such as open source options. I'm on a phone and trying my best to do some research but there's pages and pages of comments/posts that don't seem to answer my basic question. I understand all the upgrade options that were provided, however, was their discussion around a firmware update being released to these cameras to open them up before chopping off the access? Thanks.

I've not seen any discussion of such a possibility, either from Google or somehow from a third party I'm afraid.
