Live video unavailable

From trying to read posts that are 3-5 years old am I correct in underrating that Neat battery cameras do not let you view live feeds without a power cable plugged in? Need to know if I’m returning all of my nest cameras as the whole point of battery powered camera is to not have it plugged in. 
Additionally, the cameras constantly go offline (I have 2 of them). Just says Device offline. No amount of resetting them or even factory resetting them gets them to work for longer than a few hours before it’s the same problem. 
my wifi network is Fios with 1GB speed and the router is about 3 feet away from them so it’s not my wifi (especially after an exhausting talk with Verizon technicians).

They need dedicated power.  Not even the solar panel power works for live feed.  HAS to be plugged into an outlet.  Pack them up and return them.  The annual subscription price is going up to $200.  Not worth it for how the cameras operate and what’s included.

Going offline frequently seems to be an included feature of Google Nest cameras and doorbells. They'll try and blame your home network, but even after trying completely different routers you'll experience the same issues. I've had three different setups and my Nest doorbell continues to go offline. Do yourself a favor and send it back. Go with pretty much any other security camera option.
