Looking for video from nest doorbell camera

is it possible to get video from a nest doorbell camera from a time prior to when I subscribed to nest aware?  I think we caught a tornado on our camera-- have the still shot & timestamp but do not have the video.  I subscribed to nest aware 3 hrs after the video would have been captured and hoping google stores the videos.  Thank you!

Nest Aware subscriptions start from the time when we purchase a subscription.

I think it would be unethical and possibly illegal for Google Nest to be recording and saving video history before we authorize them to do so in the form of a subscription.

To access video footage from a Nest Doorbell camera, you'll typically need to follow these steps:

1. Open the Nest App: Ensure you have the Nest app installed on your mobile device. It's available for both Android and iOS devices. If you don't have the app, you can download it from the Google Play Store (for Android) or the Apple App Store (for iOS).

2. Log In: Launch the Nest app and log in using the Google account associated with your Nest Doorbell camera.

3. Select Your Doorbell Camera: In the app, you should see a list of your Nest devices. Tap on your Nest Doorbell camera to access it.

4. View Video History:

   • Depending on your Nest subscription plan (Nest Aware), you may have access to video history. If you have an active subscription, you can typically view recorded video clips and events from your Nest Doorbell camera.
   • Look for an option like "Video History," "Events," or a similar label within the app. This is where you can access your recorded video footage.

5. Select and Play Videos: In the video history section, you'll see a timeline of recorded events. Select the date and time of the video you want to view, and tap on it to play the recording.

6. Live View: If you want to view the live feed from your Nest Doorbell camera, you can do so by selecting the "Live View" or "Stream" option within the app.

7. Download or Share: Some Nest apps allow you to download video clips or share them with others. Look for these options if needed.

@droughty, thanks for reaching out to us. If you haven't subscribed to Nest Aware prior to the said event, you will probably get just the time stamp of the said event, accessible for three hours only. Then, if you've just subscribed to Nest Aware after that, you still can't retrieve a video at that moment since the camera is not subscribed to Nest Aware at that time.
