Lost Magnetic place for Nest Outdoor Camera

Cokelin

I lost my magnetic plate and camera is out of warranty. Google doesn't sell them so now I am left with an expensive paper weight. I find this idiot beyond belief. I'm am willing and need to purchase this mount. Yet will not even sell it to me. I am very surprised how unhelpful the support line was. So far my worst experience with google and making me regret buying into the nest system.

There is a solution to the missing camera magnet,  Amazon sells a silicone boot for the outdoor cam. They also sell small powerful magnets.  I have magnets that are about 3 in long to hold my heater vents open. I cut one in half and placed the pieces at the bottom of the boot. Does a good job of holding the cam in place. The boots come in white and tan.

Update. They also have a silicon boot with a place for a tripod screw.  There are all kinds of inexpensive tripod mounts availalbe.

Thanks Kerry for your  suggestion. Just to make sure I full-understand it.  You put magnets inside the silicone cover and then drill a magnet to your wall. Does the magnet inside the cover not move around? How do you keep it steady?

The magnet I used inside was about 2.5 x .5 in.  I cut it in half and the sleeve is tight enough to hold them. You could also put a dab of silicon cement on them. A round magnet might be easier.  If the magnet is strong enough, it may just stick to a steel plate. otherwise putting another magnet on the wall would certainly be stronger.  Better than buying a new camera.

This is a solution I found several years ago.  The sleeves are still available. I use 7 of the outdoor cams so replacement would be expensive.  Google should offer them as a accessory.  The fact that they come off the camera is almost a design flaw.  Too easy for them to come up missing.

If you look through your forums you will find this issue has been mentioned several times already over the past several years. This is not a new issue and concern. I filled out the form and I am not expecting Google to be willing to provide any help. I already spoke with support prior to posting and they said they aren't able to help due to the camera being out of warranty which I mentioned above. It's very odd Google isn't willing to even sell the part to me. I'm not even asking for a free one.
