My Nest Cam Outdoor / Battery loses its charge and stops recording or playing videos despite being powered continuously. The odd thing is that I have three separate Nest Cams, all in different locations and all purchased at different times and they all exhibit this behavior. I've tried everything - New cables, new chargers, different outlets, resetting to factory defaults and re-installing. No luck. The cameras will seem fine for a while then all go haywire at the same time. This seems to resolve itself after 2-3 days and then acts again a couple of weeks later. The Cameras are all less that two years old, they are under the eaves, in the shade, out of the weather and the temperatures here are mild, no extremes. I've seen older threads where this is described as a "known" defect. Does anybody know how to resolve this?

That seems quite odd. We've had a battery camera for over 3 years through 3 Minnesota winters, mounted outside under a camera shield and plugged in with the 10-meter optional power cable, and its battery has always remained charged, and the camera is always "Live" and recording.
Do you have the power cable plugged in securely, with the cable feeding towards the FRONT of the camera? If you go to Settings | Battery for your camera, does it show as "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol? Were your cameras plugged in during the install process? (There seems to be something that occurs during the install process that recognizes whether your camera is plugged in and sets it to running in plugged-in mode.) Are you by any chance using the 1-meter charging cords enclosed with the cameras to power your cameras? (I've seen a few posts from customers that seem to indicate that doesn't work very well.)

Thanks @MplsCustomer . The one thing you mention that I have not tried is leaving the camera plugged in during the install process. I have been installing unplugged but with the battery fully changed. I will try your suggestion.

I just tried keeping the Nest Battery Cam (Outdoor/Indoor) plugged in through the entire install process. This was a brand new unit that I just received from Google Nest. No luck - same behavior exhibited, the Camera (like all of my Nest Battery Cams) occasionally and randomly shows "Plugged In" and "0 percent" battery and it then stops working. The behavior is as if the camera is running on battery and the battery has gone dead, even though the App clearly says "plugged in". Then a day or two later, it will return to normal operation also for no apparent reason. I have a number of these cameras, plugged in to a variety of outlets at two different locations - one cold weather city and one warm weather city and all exhibit the same behavior, no matter what configuration parameters I choose. When all's said and done, this adds up to them running correctly about 80 or 90% of the time. Enough that I am keeping them and using them, I just hope they aren't malfunctioning at the same time as I have an incident.

Hey mate having same issue, good luck with trying the install while plugged in. That might just be the missing piece. Hopefully, this fix the issue for you let me know if it works.
