Nest Doorbell wired does not ring with mechanical doorbell.
I have a 16V 10VA transformer.
If I remove the white chime connector (hockey puck) that is supposed to be installed in the mechanical doorbell box, the doorbell chime works. If I install it like the directions say, the doorbell doesn't ring.
I'm not sure if my transformer is too weak or maybe the white chime connector is broken?
Everywhere I read, says the white chime connector has to be installed to prevent damage to the doorbell.

Thank you everyone. I upgraded to the 16V 30VA transformer and it works great.

I've seen posts from a couple of customers who upgraded from a 16V 10VA transformer to a 16V 30VA transformer to get the chime to work for their 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell. Perhaps the minimum requirement is not enough.
A couple of years ago, we upgraded to a 16V 30VA transformer for our older Nest Hello doorbells because the second doorbell wouldn't ring the chime.

Yes, without using the chime connector you could burn out the doorbell in the house. When you are NOT using the chime connector put your ear close to the doorbell and if it is buzzing then that is a problem. It should be completely silent.
As Mplscustomer said you may need a transformer with more amps. Especially if the wire run in our house is really long.
