Migrated Nest to Google Home and Can't View Any History

I had two cameras setup with the Nest App (Nest IQ and Nest Hello) and they worked fine with the Nest app.   I could see 24/7 video and everything since I had the premium subscription.

I migrated them over to the Google Home app and now there is no option to view any video history at all even though I pay for the premium subscription to see 24/7 video for 60 days.  When I click on the camera settings these options are grayed out so I can't click them at all.

The 24/7 history works fine on my newer Nest Cam Outdoor and when I go to settings I can see the video history options and they are clickable so I know my account is active and everything.  So why can't I see it on my Nest IQ or Nest Hello?

I tried a hard reset on these two and reconnected them but that didn't help.

I verified the cameras are setup in my correct Google Home account, its the same one I pay for the premium subscription through.

UPDATE:  After leaving my cameras connected to Google home something must have sync'd and now I'm able to see 24/7 history via the Google Home App.  For anyone struggling with this I ended up hard resetting my (old) cameras and re-installing via the Google Home App.  Initially I could not see the history but after one week everything finally sync'd up and it appears to be working as intended.

I went through this and found that I have to go into the primary Nest app to see by the minute/second video history on the older Nest cameras. Can only see live video and events that get recorded on Nest Hello.

Since ive transferred all my cams and doorbell, i only can see recorded clips and no live video anymore. Google Home says all cameras are offline, which they aren't. They still give notifications and records everything. Just no live view for more than a week now. Very frustrated!!

Hi there!

Thank you very much for reaching out to this community! I understand that you have some Nest Cameras which, in the Nest app, allowed you to view 24/7 video through the Google Home Premium Subscription. However, since you migrated your devices to the Google Home app, these features have not been functioning as expected. It has been confirmed that since the Nest Cam Outdoor is working correctly, please do not worry; I am here to help you!

Regarding your experience that the features work perfectly in the Nest app, I would like to thank you for the time you took to troubleshoot your devices. However, I would like to advise you that the most recommended solution is to transfer your devices back to the Nest app, but there are some aspects that need to be considered:

  • Any history your device made in the Google Home app stays in the Home app until it expires. This includes video history for all cameras.
  • All your device history is only accessible in the Nest app.
  • You need to set up notifications in the Nest app again. These notifications won't be imported from the Google Home app.
  • You may want to review any routines you have set up in the Google Home app. They may interfere with schedules in the Nest app.
  • Transfer device:
    • In the device settings in the Nest app, tap Transfer from the Home app.
    • On the confirmation page, tap Continue.
    • On the About page, tap Transfer.
    • Tap Ok to return to the home page.

Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

Best regards,
Eduardo
