I am reporting a loss of essential functionality following the migration of my Nest Doorbell (Wired, 1st Generation) from the Nest app to the Google Home app.
Since completing the migration, my mechanical indoor chime, which previously worked reliably, has stopped functioning. There is currently no setting in the Google Home app to enable or disable the chime, a feature that existed in the Nest app. As a result, although the doorbell rings at the door and sends mobile notifications, the mechanical chime inside my home no longer sounds.
Technical Details:
Device: Nest Doorbell (Wired, 1st Gen)
Chime Setup: Traditional mechanical chime wired in-line between the transformer and the doorbell, using the Nest Chime Connector
Functionality (prior to migration): The Nest Chime Connector was responsible for actively triggering the mechanical chime when the doorbell button was pressed.
Current Issue: Since migration to Google Home, the chime is no longer triggered, and there is no visible setting in the Google Home app to enable or control this behavior, whereas in the Nest app there is a toggle on/off for the chime.
Troubleshooting Performed:
Verified correct wiring of the transformer, chime, doorbell, and Chime Connector
Power cycled the system at the breaker
Inspected all available settings in the Google Home app
Confirmed that mobile notifications are still functioning
Request:
Please restore the chime control setting for users of the Nest Doorbell (Wired, 1st Gen) who have migrated to the Google Home app. The Nest Chime Connector is still physically in place and capable of triggering the chime, but without software support, this functionality is lost. This setting is essential for homes relying on traditional mechanical chimes and was a core feature of the Nest platform.
Or do I go back to the Nest app?

Hi JamesTDC,
Thanks for posting in the community! I understand that after migrating your Nest Doorbell (wired) from the Nest app to the Google Home app, your mechanical indoor chime has stopped working. I appreciate you for trying some troubleshooting steps to get it working again. I'm glad to help you with this!
While most settings are available in the Google Home app, some of them are only available in the Nest app.
To isolate the inconvenience, I'd like to ask the following questions:
Please keep me updated. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Juan

The problem is that after migrating the Nest Doorbell to Google Home, the Nest app no longer controls the Nest Doorbell or even displays it as a device. So all configuration must be performed in Google Home. This is the fundamental problem because, unlike in the Nest app, there is no ability to configure mechanical chime function in Google Home. Whereas in the Nest app there was a mechanical chime enable/disable config question. For info, when enabling this feature the chime connector responds to the doorbell push by momentarily shorting its output wires - this activates the mechanical chime in my setup. So it's as though the feature has been disabled during the migration process

Hi Juan,
Since my earlier reply to you, I now see that a settings menu has become available by selecting the doorbell in the devices menu and clicking the three dots in upper right, and I am able to configure the mechanical chime and enable it on.
So now just one more problem to overcome - can you help? 👉

Hi James,
Thanks for keeping me updated. I appreciate you confirming that the settings to configure the mechanical chime become available by selecting the doorbell in the devices menu and clicking the three dots in the upper-right corner.
Regarding your other question, it seems another community specialist is handling your case. I suggest staying tuned to that thread for further information.
If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to post them on this forum.
