Hello,
I have a 2nd generation Nest doorbell. Unfortunately the installer permanently installed this to the exterior wall and I cannot remove the device to see the setup key (he has fixed in place with mortar) . Sadly I needed to re-install this doorbell (needed to uninstall it to add a new camera) which is impossible without a QR code or setup key.
I have my original box and serial number but that isnt helping. I am guessing that the Setup key isn't unique to the unit, but covers all 2nd gen Doorbells? How can I get this setup key ?
Thanks in advance
Duren

The 6-character Setup Code is unique to each doorbell and is printed on the back of the doorbell near the QR code.
The 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell should be removable from the mount on your exterior wall by unscrewing the hex screw at the top of the doorbell, as shown at about 8:40 in this install video:

It's too bad Google Nest does not tell customers to write down and save their Setup Code for each Google Nest device.

Hi durendexter,
Thanks for posting here in the community. I understand your concern about re-adding your Nest Doorbell to the App. Let's go ahead and see what we can do here. Is there a chance that you could call the installer? Your Nest Doorbell requires the internet to work with its features and their QR codes and setup keys are required during setup. In case you removed it from its mount, take a photo of the QR code and the setup keys for your future reference. Let us know how it goes.
I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.
Thanks,
Emerson

you skipped the biggest issue which is taking the cover off without a hex key or how to do that.

Are you still experiencing this concern? If the cover isn't coming off even with trying to use the hex key, are you sure it is being removed correctly? The hex key should most definitely be able to remove the cover.
Best regards,
Brad
