Multiple notifications for same event

If I have notifications set up for people, doorbell, and packages, I will get three separate notifications for the same event.  One for the person walking up to the door, another for them ringing the bell, and finally another if a package is left.  Is there really no algorithms that let the doorbell know this is all one event?

I bet it's because they are all discrete accounts where notifications are sent immediately. In order to combine them, Google Nest would have to build in a delay on ALL events in order to collect and temporarily store the events somewhere, and then combine them with any possible additional events from the same camera or doorbell and send out a combined package, and then how long would they wait?

Hi folks,

Thanks for chiming in, @MplsCustomer

@RY2, thanks for posting. The behavior you described, where you receive separate notifications for different events related to the same event (such as a person walking up, ringing the doorbell, and a package being left), is the default behavior of many smart doorbell systems, including the Nest Hello Doorbell. Currently, there is no built-in algorithm in these systems that combines these events into a single notification.

The primary reason for this separation is to provide you with detailed information about each event as it occurs. By receiving separate notifications, you can quickly understand the specific actions taking place at your door, such as someone approaching, ringing the doorbell, or the delivery of a package. However, it's understandable that receiving multiple notifications for a single event can be redundant and potentially overwhelming. While there isn't a direct algorithm to merge these notifications within the Nest Hello Doorbell system, you may be able to use Google Home to integrate with your doorbell to customize the notification behavior.

Let us know if that helps.

Best,

Zoe
