Mute sound while watching live feed

I usually watch my live cameras at night to keep an eye on young kittens I foster and normally I have my phone on mute to watch the live feed while in bed. But recently I just got a new camera on google home and it’s only allowing me to lower my sound to 10%, I cannot lower it any more. How is google home restricting my phone from lowering my volume/muting it. I don’t want to wake my husband sleeping while checking the camera. Super annoyed. Any help?

I’m using an iPhone 12 mini and my husband has the iPhone 12 and it’s doing it on both our devices.
