If your Nest Cam is one of the new Google Nest cameras or doorbells released starting in the fall of 2021, Google Nest designed them to work ONLY in the Google Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app or on the home.nest.com web page on your PC, while our older Google Nest cameras and doorbells are still administered and receive notifications in the Google Nest app.  (If your Nest Cam is one of the older cameras, you can visit home.nest.com on your PC and login with your Net credentials to view your camera.)  We discovered this feature deficiency on new cameras when we bought a Google Nest Camera (Battery) in Sept. 2021; since then we've seen posts from many customers in this forum who have discovered the same thing, and we've had to use 2 apps for our cameras ever since.

Google Nest's General Manager and Vice President posted this justification for this 2-app approach back in Sept. 2021; there has been no update since: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Message-from-our-GM-Updates-for-our-Nest-customers/ba-p/...

Thanks so much for sharing this wisdom! So then will my new "Aware" subscription show my all the past recorded activity that was captured by my new Nest camera which I can view on my home PC?

@DocSavageFan

Your Nest Aware subscription covers all cameras and doorbells--old and new--in the same "home" or "structure" on the same account (unless it's the old "Gen 1" Nest Aware subscription, which covers just one camera or doorbell). However, history for the new cameras and doorbells released starting in the fall of 2021 can only be viewed in the Google Home app and NOT on your PC via the home.nest.com website.

This Google Nest Help page has info on Nest Aware: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9546397?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DiOS

Thanks so much for this valuable information!

How much total history (total days saved) can I save and view on my new 2nd Gen Google Nest Outdoor camera with battery? Asking b/c I usually visit family for about 8 - 10 days during the holidays.

@DocSavageFan

It depends on whether your Google Nest Camera (Battery) is plugged in with the optional power cable or running on battery, AND whether you have a Nest Aware or Nest Aware Plus subscription. If your camera is plugged in and you have Nest Aware, you get 30 days of event video history, and with Nest Aware Plus you get 10 days of continuous video history and 60 days of event video history. If your camera is NOT plugged in and you have Nest Aware, you get 30 days of event video history (but customers in this forum report that when running on battery power the camera is slow to detect events), and you CANNOT get continuous video history even if you have Nest Aware Plus.

See that Google Nest Help link I provided earlier for the specifics that Google Nest provides.

Thanks for the helpful information! So, if I get my 2nd Gen outdoor battery camera plugged into a continuous power source I should be able to get 30 days of event history with my New Aware subscription on my Google Home app and on my PC or not?

@DocSavageFan

Just event history (whatever Google Nest captures as an event), and you'll only be able to see it in the Google Home app. As I said earlier, the new cameras cannot be viewed from a browser on the home.nest.com website.
