My Nest Door bell - Green light - but offline

Bakchoi

Hello,

My Doorbell has been disconnecting on and off lately. Then finally, one day a couple of weeks ago, it disconnected and never connected again. At first,  I thought it was some issue with the power, but the green light on the doorbell is lid. However, the doorbell won't connect to wifi or the app. I tried restarting the doorbell, powering on/off. nothing worked.... any one have a better idea?

Thanks,

@Bakchoi

One possible cause is an issue with your Wi-Fi network, either with signal strength, bandwidth, or certain Wi-Fi settings that are problematic for Google Nest cameras.

If you think it's not a Wi-Fi problem you could try contacting Support, starting with this link:

Hello MplsCustomer, Its definitely not Wifi. At first, I thought it was as well, but it's not. I am sitting beside my doorbell, and it will not connect with my phone, let alone the wifi part. I even added an extender right beside my door bell as well, but ya not connecting, nothing.

Thanks for the support link though. much appreciated.

Hi folks,

Thanks for taking some steps beforehand — these are of great help! It looks like it’s not getting any power from your transformer. Let’s sort this out —  a few questions: what’s the voltage of your transformer? How’s the temperature of the doorbell (warm, hot, cold or normal)? What country are you located in? Has there been any recent power outage in your area? Also, has it been exposed to direct sunlight?

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Ensure the wires are connected securely into the doorbell.
  2. Remove the wires from the doorbell then use the included USB cable to plug your camera directly into a USB port on your computer.
  3. When the light pulses blue, wait for a couple of minutes to reconnect it to your Wi-Fi. Otherwise, your doorbell is dead.
  4. Mount your doorbell to the wall plate.

Important: When the doorbell shows a blue pulsing light when connected to a computer, it means it’s working. There may be issues on your wires or transformer. I recommend scheduling a visit with our partnered Nest Pro

I appreciate your help, MplsCustomer.

Thanks,

JT
