I can see the camera on my phone. But when somebody rings the doorbell I can not hear it and it does not pop anything up on my phone. No notifications or anything. Please help me fix this.

Have you check your notifications in the home app?
Home app > Door bell settings > notifications on visits
(I'm running a Danish version, my translations may not be exact)

I recently ran into this while helping my brother-in-law install his. He has the traditional electromechanical bell. I don't remember exactly where in the app this is located, but I believe it says Electronic Chime with an on/off switch. His was turned off by default. We were hesitant to turn it on because I thought it was for one of the newer "electronic chime" style bells, but we turned it on, tested and it worked just fine.

If it is similar to the Nest Camera (battery) configuration. I have the following:
Check under Settings > Events:
Under Seen Events:
Familiar face detection: On
Under Event History:
People: On
Your notifications: On
Animals: On
Your notifications: On
Vehicles: On
Your notifications: Off
Motion: On
Your notifications: Off
By turning on the People, Animals, Vehicle and Motion switches I'll be able to view all of those events that happened when I check history. However, I only want People and Animals events sent to me as notifications. This is the "Your notifications" switch under each section. The other two don't alert me but it still gets stored in history. You'll probably also have a Packages switch.
Also, take a look at under Settings > Notifications:
(Not sure if you have these)
I have Push notifications turned on and Away-only notifications turned off.
I like the Push notifications turned on so that I get battery alerts or error notifications.
The Away-only notification got me once... I was receiving Events when I was at work, but noticed I didn't get them when I was home. I looked around settings and this was turned on.
Hope this helps.

I've turned on and off every notification setting imaginable (over a month with Google Nest Support) with no resolution 😞

I have the same issue, and cannot work out how to trigger an alert to my phone. Google doorbell, android mobile. I’ve checked notification settings and can’t work out how to get some useful notification . Might need to return the device, as it’s currently not providing any useful function.

I am sorry to hear that you are still having this issue! Is your Doorbell on a 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz wifi channel? If you can switch it to its own channel, you may find that it should work. I would also suggest that you Factory Reset it, so you can re-establish the connections again and that also tends to help for some users. Please let me know if that works for you!
Best regards,
Brad.
