I thought these cameras are cable free? My new nest battery camera turns off when it is unplugged. It says I need to “ mount” the camera, what does this mean? Are these cameras cable free?

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. The base that it comes with can either be battery powered or plugged in. Please look through this article here for further assistance.

Hi Robin,  The new design has a default setting that makes it so the camera turns OFF if it is not actually sitting on the magnetic base regardless of battery or wired.  So if you sit it back on the magnetic base it should turn back on.  The good news is you can turn this off so that the camera remains on all the time regardless of where it is sitting. To do this go into the camera on the GOOGLE HOME app so you are viewing the image.  Next hit the GEAR and then DEVICE INFORMATION.  You should see a selection at the top for CAMERA MOUNT.  Select this and change it to OTHER.  The camera should now work all the time regardless of where it is sitting or how it is mounted.
