NEST CAMERAS AND T-MOBILE GATEWAY INTERNET

Is anyone having trouble connecting Nest indoor/outdoor cameras to the internet with T-Mobile's Gateway?  I've tried setting up a separate network (2.4 GHz WPA2), restarting Gateway, deleting and reinstalling Google Home, factory reset on cameras.....HELP!

Hi folks,

Thanks for posting here in the Community. I'm sorry to hear about the connectivity issues with your Nest Indoor and / or Outdoor Cameras. Don't worry, I'm here to help! Let's take a look and see what's going on.

@melee1, I understand that you already followed some basic troubleshooting steps, like restarting and resetting the Nest devices and your Gateway. There are a few additional  steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially get yours back online. Here's what you can do:

1. Verify Wi-Fi Network Connection:

  • Other Devices: Check if other Wi-Fi devices in your home are connected and functioning normally. If not, the issue might lie with your Wi-Fi network itself.
  • Signal Strength: Ensure your Nest Cameras are receiving a strong Wi-Fi signal. If it's far from your router, consider:
    • Moving it closer: A stronger signal can improve connection stability.
    • Using a Wi-Fi extender: If relocating isn't feasible, an extender can boost the signal in that area.

2. Advanced Troubleshooting:

  • Check Network Security Settings: In rare cases, your router's security settings might be interfering with the connection. Try temporarily disabling firewall settings or MAC filtering (if enabled) to see if it allows the connection. Remember to re-enable these security features after testing.
  • 2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz Network: Some routers offer separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands. While 5 GHz offers faster speeds, it has a shorter range. Try connecting your Nest devices to the 2.4 GHz band initially, as it might have trouble connecting to the 5 GHz band at a distance. You can switch to 5 GHz later if the connection is stable and strong.
  • Check for Nest camera error codes or setup messages.

Follow the steps from this guide to Fix Nest camera or doorbell Wi-Fi connection issues and to Troubleshoot Nest camera and doorbell setup messages.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Mario
