Nest App vs Google Home App

I currently have a nest doorbell as well as a nest camera in my kitchen. I just purchased a new camera for my basement, I installed the camera under Google Home app and the camera is up and running. I would like to have this camera show up on my Nest app. How do I do this?

I agree.  The nest app is more user friendly then the google home app and allows you to view your cameras in a browser.  I have two nest cams and the new doorbell.  The new doorbell is not available to view from a browser which is very unfortunate.

Unfortunately all new 2021 Nest cameras are not compatible with the Nest app or previous Nest Home web browser interface. It’s a real shame.

This is an unbelievable disaster. I just bout two new Nest cam products - an outdoor batter cam and a floodlight cam. I have 4 other existing Nest Cams. I was promoted to migrate to Google Home. That process deleted the cameras from my Nest app and did not migrate them properly. The Google home app is a TERRIBLE interface compared to Nest. There is no going back - I can't put the new cameras on the old Nest app. I have to reinstall all the old cameras on the Google home app which involves getting on ladders to scan codes. What a pain.  Heads should roll at Google over this debacle. I sure hope that Google Home will be bolstered very soon to have a good interface for viewing security cameras.

Same story here. Not Google worthy

A very very big shame. Just bought 4 New cameras. Google home does not support audio push notifications, nest app does. I need audio push notifications, this is the reason I bought them… crazy!

Google's 2021 Nest cameras are not compatible with the Nest App, only with the Google Home app. I cant recall a specific announcement, but it seems Google is about the phase out the Nest App in favor of the Google Home app. Thats a shame b/c there is no option in the Google Home app to view all of your camera feeds like the Nest app offers.

Completely agree, Stevie007.

I returned my battery cameras and I’m in the process of switching all my security to ADT. Without Nest, these cameras and systems are a joke! Google Home sucks!!!

There is NO comparison between Home and Nest. Nest is far superior and Google dropped the ball here. Unfortunately, I am almost $1,000 vested into my cameras, including two NEW ones, and was not aware of the lack of Nest support. It’s ridiculous that they pushed us to Neat and now leave us no option. My monthly bill for history / recording is now a complete waste and it’s extremely disappointing.

Has anyone found an alternative company as I’m done with Google.

Hey folks,

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App or available on https://bit.ly/3HtBgJC web app. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration.

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support. I am more than happy to assist you further with this inquiry if you wish. Please let me know.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Hey folks.

I am sorry to hear that you are still unhappy with the outcome. I do not have an ETA on anything else. At this time, the new Nest cams from 2021 are only available in the Google Home app.

Best regards,

Brad.

I could not stand the thought of a mixed environment - part Nest App and part Google Home. Since the new cameras can only work on Google Home, I went through the drudgery of migrating all my Nest outdoor cams that I previously had on the Nest App over to he Google Home App. Yes, this involved crawling around on rooftops and ladders to scan codes and all that stuff. At least now I have everything in one ecosystem - Google Home. For the time being, the Google Home app is inferior, for security, than the Nest App. So by adding the latest and greatest cameras, I have taken a step backwards toward getting an effective security system. I hope that Google will take this seriously and quickly make the security part of Google Home app at least as good, or better, that the Nest app or the Ring app.
