Nest Aware $6 vs $12 - dont understand what I am missing between the two plans

This link explains it.  But for me the big difference is that the $12 option actually records 24/7 for each camera.  Th $6 option only records when it seems motion (IE clip recording).

Thanks for quick reply, so where would 24/7 be needed as opposed to each movement recording?

It seems to be each movement would capture important events just like 24/7 would??

Well, as someone that has the $6 subscription, I can tell you that the event based recording isn't so hot sometimes.  Even set on the maximum length event recording (which includes additional pre-roll as well), it often will stop recording even though an "event" is not really over.   I see this a lot with cars going by, but also with people and animals.  The recording will stop before the car leaves the frame.   This of course could be fixed in their software.  No idea if that will ever happen, though.

Yes, that is why (for me) the $12/month is very worth it.  It is also why I returned the new Nest Doorbell battery.  Even when it is running on AC power the subscription won't record 24/7.  and 80% of the clips (like you said) start recording to late or stop recording to soon.

It is also the reason I like the EUFY cams.  They record 24/7 locally in the camera.  AND there is no monthly fee for this.  There are only 2 negatives. #1  If the cam is stolen your footage is gone. #2  if you want to view the 24/7 video on your computer's browser then you are out of luck.  You can only look at it from a smart phone.   If you are extra handy however you can have the camera record the footage on your computer using a network drive.  A little difficult to setup but it works.

Yeah,  I'm probably going to just switch my cameras over to  generic POE and run a Blue Iris server/nvr.  For the doorbell there are some ip ones that have rstp feeds you can send to an NVR as well (in addition to echo or goggle hub integration).

I believe EUFY support RSTP as well. The only negative to the POE/Blue Iris solution is the false alerts.  They are very difficult to fine tune.   The benefit to the Eufy cams is that they all have AI in them that can differentiate motion that is person verses non-person.  It works really well for me and I get almost no false alerts at 2am when a cat appears or a car drives by or a mouth flies by.

Yeah, understood.   I presume that deepstack will get better over time.  I do get a fair amount of false alerts now on my google nest outdoor cam (battery) when it rains/snows.  Pretty much constant mis-identification as a car..and always overnight while on IR.   Outside of that issue though, the on-board AI in the battery cams is quite good.   I still think I'll move to BI though , just for the local 24x7 recording and control of the whole ecosystem, integration with other home automation, etc.
