Nest Cam (Battery). "Something went wrong" can't install

VBScrapper

Can someone please explain to me what I'm doing wrong? I recently purchased the Nest Cam (Battery) for outdoors.  I get through all of the screens and then it says "finishing up".  After 5 minutes, I get an error message "Something went wrong." Try connecting again.  If that doesn't work, try rebooting your device or turning your phone's airplane mode on and off before trying again.

I've tried all of this.  I also tried setting up a new "home".  Nothing is working for me to get my camera installed onto my network.

Please send help!!!

if you still are having issues. when i was doing the setup mainly i couldnt get the blue light to come on like it said before you could continue. i did and would always get the error. i found out if you hold the reset button for about 10 seconds it will flash yellow and make a noise. after that try to setup. dont plug in until prompted. you will get a different noise with the white light and right away the blue light will come on once the chime stops. continue setup and it works.

hope this helps

I had the issue for weeks. With help from google, I restarted the cam with the little button on the back of the cam, for more than 12 seconds. (I tried 10...) then a sound and a blue light and I was able to install. Not using the QR code but the code on the device.
I hope this works for you too...

What worked for me is creating a new home with only the doorbell in there and then adding all of your devices again.

(Nest Doorbell battery, IPhone 12 Mini)

Had similar issue with setting up one of the three cameras. Instead of scanning QR code I opted to type in the 6 digit code which is printed on the camera. It worked fine.

Reset the camera by pressing the small button at the back for 12 seconds or so until you hear a chime

Do not plug it in until you are asked to do so during setup.

Same issue.. tried even different house, different WiFi, same exact issue, Google support needs some help and yes, I agree, the response Monday was super weak and probably just some robo response. Google, we still need help.

Same issue here two battery cams I’m unable to setup. 3 hour call to 1st level support was pointless and he was clueless about the issue even after asking for help from second level support.  Help now please and train your support staff.

What finally worked for me, after hours of having the same issues, is  this: unplug the camera and hold down the reset button on the back of the cameras (I used a toothpick) for about 30 seconds. The light should turn yellow, you'll hear a chime, then it will turn white and finally the light will turn off altogether. That's when you can release the reset button. Then, plug the camera in and you should get a white light that turns to blue. Once the light is blue, go through setup and you should be able to setup successfully. This worked for all three of my nest indoor/outdoor battery cameras.

Hey folks,

Restarting and factory resetting your Google Nest camera or doorbell will have different results:

Restart: Keeps all your settings, and it should reconnect to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever becomes frozen, has trouble reconnecting to the internet, or isn't working normally.

Factory reset: Erases all your settings and options, and restores its factory default settings. It will not automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi and you'll need to set it up again.

You can find this information, plus additional information on this process here. Please let me know if you have further questions.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Same issue albeit slightly different.  Camera worked fine, yesterday had a new verizon router installed in the house.  Original Nest products were a breeze to update, just update the new wifi router and password.  Google products are the problem.  Google Display required removal and reinstall, more difficult than a wifi network update.  Google Indoor/Outdoor camera won't finish set up (also required complete removal and reset).  I have reset the camera to factory default, I have rebooted my iphone, I have turned airplane on and off.  I keep getting to finish up mode and get the "something went wrong" after multiple minutes.

Just worked.  Folks on IOS / Iphone, ensure your iphone is updated.

I have officially tried everything that people have mentioned.  Including trying to set up using my Google phone, Apple iPad 11 Pro.  Nothing is working for me.  So I'm not sure how to continue.

I've had this issue for a week now. Have done factory resets and created new 'homes' entirely. Tried 2 different phones all up to date. My device worked fine for a month, then died out of seemingly nowhere.

@FrankO

I am glad to hear that this worked for you! I would suggest that some of you try the same steps to try.

Best Regards,

Brad.

I actually tried this using the code on the back.  When it got to the pick the last 4 digits on the SN, mine wasn't an option so I couldn't continue.

Thanks everyone for offering up some assistance.  I've officially tried everything including using my Google Phone, Apple iPad 11 Pro, nothing is working.  So if you have any other secrets that I can try, please post.

Reset camera or doorbell to factory settings

Uninstall reinstall Google Home app

Turn Bluetooth off and on

Run setup again

That worked for me…

After several resets and new homes etc I have mine barely functional. It is connected to my home again, but no floodlight shown. It runs on battery most of the time and gives me 20+ notifications per NIGHT saying there battery is low or dead. I clear it every morning. I reset the device daily.

Can confirm this 100% worked. Ignore the QE Code and enter the six digit code
