Hi, hope somebody can help, I have a Nest Cam (battery) which is set up outdoors, and I have noticed it misses a lot of events. One suggestion I have heard is to somehow keep it plugged in, rather than run it off battery. I moved the camera to test this, and have it plugged in with the charger that came with it, but it still seems to be on battery. It shows idle when I connect to it, and battery life is decreasing. I have tried multiple USB chargers, different brands, and it does not make a difference. And yes, the outlet works, I have tested lights with that outlet, and all is fine.
Any ideas? Wondering if it is a faulty camera...

Do you have the 3-meter charging cord plugged in with the cord facing the FRONT of the camera (as it should)? Is the USB plug fully seated in the bottom of the camera? Is the camera mounted on it magnetic mount? (These all seem to affect whether the camera is getting power and working.)
We've had a battery camera for 15 months, plugged in with the optional 10-meter power cable; it always shows as "Live", and the battery setting shows as "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol, and the battery always remains charged.
There have been some postings in this forum where the 3-meter charging cord/adapter was faulty, and a few where the USB plug was defective, or the camera itself simply wouldn't charge.

huh. very weird, I checked and everything looked good, I took a picture to reply with, and just on a whim I unplugged and plugged the charging cable back in the camera, and now it shows connected.....weird...thanks for the advice, I guess the plug wasn't fully connected maybe?

I think the USB plugs for these battery cameras are a bit cheap and don't always seat very well. Other customers have had similar issues, or even issues with the plug falling apart.
