Nest Cam (Wired) Gen 2 Night Vision too dark

I think this is related to the following post from 2023 which is now locked and I don't see any resolution on it: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Night-Vision-Too-Dark/m-p/429313

One of my nest cams (wired, gen 2) night vision is way dark, like you can't see anything. If I manually turn night vision off and on again, it comes back great and looks perfect. But after the camera turns off in the morning routine, and back on the night after, the night vision is dark again. This is yet another issue I have experienced after purchasing $1000 worth of nest cams when I moved into my new home. I am disappointed, very much so.

When I click on the camera in the home app, I see software version: spencer-user 1.75 OPENMASTER 440524 release-keys stable-channel stable-channel

Hi @galaxyz,

Thank you for reaching out to the community! I'm genuinely sorry to hear about the night vision issue with one of your Nest Cams (indoor, wired). I understand that manually toggling the night vision on and off provides a temporary fix, but it's frustrating that the problem keeps recurring. We definitely don't want you to have this kind of experience, especially after your $1000 investment. I'm here to help you find a solution.

I would like to share some troubleshooting steps that might help you.

  • Try to move the camera to another zone with more appropriate lighting, or change the lighting in the area if the camera can't be moved.
  • Check for the presence of devices such as motion sensors, Nest Protect, or other infrared sources.

Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

Best regards,
Eduardo
