Nest Cam (battery)
Is plugged into power, but app still says it’s using battery power. This results in my camera not being constantly streaming but instead only if I push the button live video.
can I reset the camera somehow so that it recognizes it is plugged in? I know the cameras being charged and receiving power because the battery power is staying 97% after many days.

On our Google Nest Camera (Battery), which we've had for 14 months, plugged in all the time with the optional 10-meter power cable, when we select Settings | Battery, it always shows as "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol. And it is always "Live" and recording 24/7. If we unplug it, the battery is always between 77% and 100%.
Is your power cable plugged in securely, with the cable feeding towards the FRONT of the camera? Some customers have reported faulty plugs, or their USB plug hasn't been fully seated, or have had the cord plugged in the wrong way, or have had a faulty power cable or camera that prevented the camera from charging.

Your advice was excellent. I had wiggled and unplugged the device several times, but once I read your suggestions, I did it much more, and suddenly camera made a "happy sound" and settings showed it was "Plugged in"! OK, so thank you so much for the advice. Hopefully it stays working...

The USB plugs on these cameras don't seem very sturdy.

I am having a similar problem with the Doorbell (battery) that is being powered by an 12VAC, 1.25A power supply.
During setup, live video checks out OK. But after setup process completed, the app says the "Device off" and no video shows up and doorbell does not ring/notify. App shows 100% battery charge, but no video. WiFi signal OK. Tried Quick Responses and it works. Help please... this shouldn't be this hard to set up... Thanks!

I can't tell whether your power supply is adequate or not, but I don't think you should get a "Device off" status unless you've turned the doorbell off.
These are Google Nest's stated requirements for its doorbells:

Thanks for your quick response. the Power supply should be sufficient: Google requirements are 8-24VAC, 10-40VA. Ours is 12VAC, 1.25A = 15VA.
I tried to reinstall with BATTERY usage configuration only (i.e., not plugged into Power supply). Again, during setup all seems OK with video, BUT after setup process, I get "Device off" and "Device unmounted, Remount this device to see live video or receive event notifications" --- the doorbell should be running off a 100% charged battery right now. There is NO green indicator light and doorbell pushbutton not lit when motion in front of doorbell. How can I turn the "Device" ON? Should I reset the device with a paper clip? thanks again for your help...

OK... I discovered that I was testing the doorbell in the home BEFORE committing to mounting the device at the permanent location on the front porch... and that DOES NOT WORK because I did not mate the mounting bracket onto doorbell device. Apparently, the mounting bracket HAS to be in contact with the doorbell for it to operate. That wasn't clear to me in the instructions... Thanks for your patience!

I hope it's working now. The new Google Nest cameras and doorbells have a "Camera mount" setting and keep track of whether the device is "mounted".
